First sessions can feel intimidating. You’re walking into a new space with a trainer you’ve never worked with, not knowing exactly what to expect. That uncertainty is completely normal — and it doesn’t last long. Here’s what your first session at Healthspan Fit actually looks like.
It Starts with a Conversation
Before we ever touch a weight, your coach will sit down with you to learn your story. What brought you here? What have you tried before? What’s worked, what hasn’t, and why? Do you have any injuries, pain points, or movement limitations? What are your goals in the next 3 months, and in the next 3 years? This isn’t paperwork — it’s a genuine conversation that shapes everything that comes after.
A Movement Assessment
Your coach will walk you through a series of foundational movement patterns — squats, hinges, pushes, pulls, carries — to see how you move. This isn’t a test you can fail. It’s data. Your coach is looking at your mobility, your stability, your coordination, and any compensations your body has developed over time. This information builds the foundation of your program.
Your First Real Training
After the assessment, you’ll do actual training — but scaled to exactly where you are. You won’t be thrown into something you’re not ready for. You’ll be challenged appropriately, introduced to movements you’ll build on, and coached through every rep with cues that help you understand what you’re doing and why.
You Leave with a Plan
At the end of your first session, you’ll have clarity. You’ll know what your program will look like, how often you’ll train, and what the roadmap to your goals actually is. No guesswork. No generic plan. A real strategy built specifically for you.
